    ‘Catches for College’ Initiative Adds $35K to Education Fund 

    Keches Law Group committed $100 per catch throughout NFL season

    Keches Law is always looking for ways to connect and give back. Whether by supporting good causes like Habit for Humanity and Dinner for Champions, by organizing Thanksgiving dinner home deliveries or by partnering with teams like the Patriots, Bruins and Free Jacks, Keches has deep roots in our community. 

    During this regular season, Keches made a major commitment through the “Catches for College” sponsorship promotion with 98.5 The Sports Hub radio network. For every catch made by a Patriots player, Keches committed $100 to its education fund. By the end of the Patriots’ last game, Keches had contributed $35,100 for 351 completions. 

    “We’re proud to be the official law firm of the New England Patriots and are thrilled to be able to raise such a sizable amount of money to put towards our scholarship fund,” says Keches Law Managing Partner Sean Flaherty. 

    Catching Up on the Season 

    The season started off hot with 66 catches through two weeks, but as the team skidded and the quarterback position bounced between Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe, the receptions slowed. The lowest total of the season came in the final game on the schedule against the New York Jets played in the snow on Jan. 7 where the team completed just 12 passes. 

    The Patriots were bit by the injury bug in a major way this year and it hurt their ability to bring in receptions. Top target Kendrick Bourne tore his right ACL during week 8 and missed the rest of the season. Starting running back Rhamondre Stevenson was shut down because of injury and tight end Hunter Henry missed multiple games as well. 

    When it was all said and done, the team leader in receptions was running back Ezekiel Elliot with 51, with rookie standout Demario “Pop” Douglas coming in second with 49.

    Patriots Partners 

    The initiative came in tandem with Keches Law being named the official Law Firm of the New England Patriots this year. As part of the partnership, during games Keches Law advertised on Gillette Stadium’s brand new 22,200 square-foot video board, which is the largest curved outdoor video board in the United States.

Keches Cares, the non-profit charity founded by Keches Law Group, raises funds throughout the year. For the past five years, Keches Law has awarded a college scholarship. North Reading resident Molly Harrington was the 2023 recipient.

    Foxboro, Massachusetts (January 10, 2024) — Keches Law Group announced Wednesday that it contributed over $35,000 to it’s scholarship fund during the New England Patriots football season as part of the “Catches for College” initiative in partnership with 98.5 The Sports Hub. 

    The “Catches for College,” sponsorship was a promotion with 98.5 The Sports Hub radio network.  Keches donated $100 to its scholarship fund for every reception made by the team throughout the regular season – a total of $35,100 for 351 completions.

    Keches Law Donates Over 500 Turkey Dinners in 3rd Annual Thanksgiving Event 

    On Thanksgiving we take the time to acknowledge all we have to be grateful for and do so while breaking bread with family and friends. There’s no better way to express the sense of gratitude than to spend time serving others, and on Friday, November 17, Keches Law did just that. 

    Keches Law team members worked together to pack bags with everything someone would need for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner and delivered the over 500 meals directly to recipients’ doors. 

    “We are fortunate to have a successful firm, loyal hardworking team members, and an insatiable drive to help the families in our communities who need it most,” Sean Flaherty says. “We’re happy to help so many families fill their Thanksgiving table so they can get back to what the holiday is all about—enjoying time with family, friends and loved ones.”

    What Did Community Members Receive? 

    The process started halfway through the day on Friday. Keches team members took a break from their work, met at the Bridgewater office, and packed all the food into bags. Then they split off into small groups and delivered the food directly to the recipients. 

    When a recipient looked into the bag, they found a turkey, cans of cranberry sauce, green beans and corn, boxes of mashed potatoes, stuffing and brownie mix, a jar of gravy and a jar opener. 

    “I just wanted to reach out and say thank you again for the Thanksgiving turkey and all the sides you gave me and my daughter,” one recipient said. “It helped make our Thanksgiving dinner and day so much better. We really appreciated it. We are so grateful for your help this holiday season.” 

    As the deliveries came to a close, Keches employees Caroline Dixon and Samantha Moriarty really went the extra mile. After having trouble locating their last recipient’s house, the two spoke with a mail delivery woman who informed them the recipient had moved away and weren’t going to be able to receive the meal. 

    However, the delivery woman also told them a disabled veteran lived nearby who would be very appreciative of the donation. Dixon and Moriarty said he was very grateful and the exchange left them all near tears of joy.

    Charitable Efforts 

    This was the third consecutive year that Keches Law has held our Thanksgiving meal drive event, just one of countless charitable efforts the firm makes on a yearly basis. In 2023, Keches Law has donated over $300,000, in addition to our attorneys’ pro bono case work and community-driven non-profit work. This summer, Molly Harrington was chosen as the Keches Law Scholarship winner, which she is using to help her attend school to be a nurse this fall.

    North Reading Native Wins Keches Law Group Scholarship Essay Contest

    Aspiring Nurse Awarded $2,500 Toward College Tuition

    Milton, Massachusetts (August 22, 2023) — Keches Law Group is proud to announce that North Reading resident Molly Harrington has been selected as the winner of the law firm’s annual scholarship essay contest.

    Now in its fifth year, the scholarship program provides crucial funds to students pursuing higher education. This year’s contest was open to family members of current and former union members, and entrants were required to write an essay sharing their perspectives on whether the American education system offers enough exposure to careers in the skilled trades.

    Harrington, the daughter of a Local 537 pipefitter and an aspiring nurse, focused her essay on the contributions of skilled trade workers. Keches Law Group is proud to recognize Harrington for her insightful, impassioned essay that drew from her father’s personal experience.

    “As a society, we hold the responsibility of educating ourselves on trade careers to properly educate the next generation of trade workers because without them, many of the luxuries we take for granted would not exist,” she wrote in her essay.

    Harrington will be awarded $2,500 toward her tuition at Middlesex Community College, where she plans to study nursing.

    “This scholarship will aid me in paying for nursing school by allowing me to focus on my academics rather than worrying about the cost of attendance,” she said. “I hope to give my total attention to such a demanding career path in order to give the care that patients deserve.”
