A 2018 study says yes \u2013 and then some!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moms.com\/working-mom-works-98-hours\/#:~:text=In%20a%20study%20commissioned%20by,at%20a%20staggering%2098%20hours!\">study<\/a> commissioned by Welch\u2019s found that working moms are going way beyond pulling double duty, averaging a whopping 98 hours per week between professional and parental obligations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The balancing act of being a working parent comes with unique challenges. Read on to hear from some of the mothers of Keches Law Group as they share their perspectives and experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-lot-of-irons-in-the-fire\"><strong>A LOT OF IRONS IN THE FIRE<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Being a parent and maintaining a commitment to a full-time career isn\u2019t without its struggles, and learning how to balance the two can feel like your own personal circus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Legal Assistant Jessica Lema says although some days are harder than others, it comes naturally when doing a job you love and when you have children you love even more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYour instincts just kick in when you look at your children&#8217;s faces and know that they deserve everything, and you want to be the person they name as their role model,\u201d Lema says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Senior Legal Assistant Korilyne Furtado says she tries to give 100% to her career when at work, and 100% to her girls when she\u2019s at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhile I cannot say I am perfect at it, setting boundaries has helped me become both a more present mother and employee,\u201d Furtado says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/test.kecheslaw.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Jessica-Lema-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"One of the working moms, a brown-haired woman named Jessica Lema, wearing jeans crouches on a path running through a field of sunflowers holding onto her two children, 1 and 1\/2 year old boy appearing to be Caucasian, named John and a 4 year old girl with tan skin named Gracelynn. How does someone manage it? Whether learning to change an approach or figure out a system that works personally, the working moms at Keches say they\u2019ve learned how to adjust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI keep a very detailed, color-coded calendar,\u201d says Human Resources Generalist Cathy Shibley. \u201cI set lots of reminders and I have lists everywhere!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Legal Assistant Laura Graham says the most important strategy she uses is preparation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPrep is key,\u201d she says. \u201cLaying out clothes the night before, packing school lunches before bed and \u2018trying\u2019 to not let the laundry get out of control.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/test.kecheslaw.com\/injury-attorneys\/erica-l-pereira\/\">Senior Attorney Erica Pereira<\/a> says some sacrifice is needed both at home and at work and coming to terms with that helped her clarify what she wanted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSometimes you can&#8217;t give 100% to everything and that is OK,\u201d Pereira says. \u201cIt takes a long time to understand yourself enough to realize that there can be a balance that allows you to be successful without sacrificing too much of yourself and what you want.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/test.kecheslaw.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Erica-Pereira.jpg\" alt=\"Working mom Erica Pereira sits at a table with her arms around her two daughters, all appear to be Caucasian and have long brown hair. The table has breakfast food and flowers on it.\" class=\"wp-image-194477\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.kecheslaw.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Erica-Pereira.jpg 480w, https:\/\/test.kecheslaw.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Erica-Pereira-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/test.kecheslaw.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Erica-Pereira-9x12.jpg 9w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Erica Pereira with her daughters, Brooke, 11, and Quinn, 9.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Operations Manager Susan Mulligan says she advises enjoying kids while they are young without too much pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDo the best you can and don&#8217;t beat yourself up if you think you&#8217;re not measuring up,\u201d she says. \u201cDon&#8217;t stress about trying to get all the chores done and take the time to spend with the kids when they&#8217;re very young, they grow up fast!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-setting-an-example\"><strong>SETTING AN EXAMPLE<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Senior Legal Assistant Valeri Drummond says she likes the message it sends to her kids to see her going to work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSome days, it was definitely a challenge, but I liked them knowing we all have to do our part, to go to school or work,\u201d Drummond says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/test.kecheslaw.com\/injury-attorneys\/loren-e-laskoski\/\">Senior Attorney and Tort Department Manager Loren Laskoski<\/a> says being a mother is the most important job she has and that one of the most important parts of the job is showing her daughter how to succeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOne of the most significant things I can do as a mom is to be a positive role model for my daughter,\u201d she says. \u201cTo guide and support her in growing and becoming a young woman who is confident in herself and who knows that she can achieve anything she wants if she works hard and that there are no obstacles that she cannot overcome.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-there-s-room-for-improvement\"><strong>THERE\u2019S ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite cultural shifts that have made workplaces more welcoming to working parents, many moms of Keches agreed there\u2019s still a ways to go when it comes to providing flexibility and consideration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cUnderstanding the basis of a healthy and functioning society begins in the home with healthy parents,\u201d Legal Assistant Layne Watson says. \u201cFamily is the most important. Without healthy families, the community and culture of that community is greatly impacted in a negative way.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Furtado agrees, citing support and understanding as essential elements. She says working moms don&#8217;t want special treatment, but acknowledging daily struggles of motherhood makes all the difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMoms will find a way to do it all no matter what, it\u2019s what we do!
